Vulcan Death Grip…

During late Feb/ early Mar this year I became aware of a light “gripping” sensation in my left shoulder…

Feels like… a “thumb” on my shoulder blade, “fingers” over the top digging in at the front, and another “finger” at the back of my left ear…

Still have full rotational movement in the shoulder joint and moving my arm in any direction had no direct affect on the sensation…

Telephone consultation with GP who seems to suspect muscular strain…

March 6th…
Astonishing pain around the area described above extending into infinity and beyond…
Lasted 48hrs…

The “grip”, at varying levels, persisted then June 9th it bit me again…!

I did a 3 day steroid blast and…
The pain level dropped, but the “grip’s” still there…

I finally got an appointment with a Neurologist and was fed into the MRI Aug 2…

Waiting for the results now…

The sensation in my left shoulder and neck area is now persistent…
It extends, in a fizzy kinda way, down my arm into the little and ring fingers…

I get the feeling, after around 7 months, I’m stuck with it…

I’m approaching 12yrs since DX and things seem to be ramping up…
It goes without saying this all is set against a background of treacle thick fatigue…
(Still managing 5k steps per day, if nothing else…:+1:)

Now…
I wonder to myself…
Am I entering into secondary progressive…?

I’m sure it won’t be long before I find out…:+1:

Hi CR78. I don’t know for sure but I think MS can produce various otherwise inexplicable symptoms. I had terrible trigeminal neuralgia for 6 weeks or so. Bursts of Crushing pain but thankfully it faded away. I’m guessing but obviously have no real idea, that if your pain is the result of a relapse it doesn’t mean that you have secondary progressive. DMTs reduce the number of relapses but we can still get them.

Hmmm…

I live in a world of constant sensation that’s increased steadily over the last 3yrs, but this particular “grip” as I described it is in a different league…

Outside of it’s worse periods, It doesn’t prevent me from achieving what I need to do, but it’s now always there which is a bloody nuisance…:grimacing::+1:

Aggressive RRMS can cause permanent damage after each relapse has subsided as much as it’s going to, as has been the case with me right from the start, 20+ years ago.
