My consultant told me to take high dose vitamin d think he said 4000iu, he told me to look on the internet. But how do I know that I am buying from a reputable company after all doctors usually tell people to be careful of buying medication online!
My local pharmacies dont sell it in this kind of dosage, does anyone else buy online?
Hello, my neuologist took my vitamin d level and it came back at 23 and he suggested I take 800iu daily. This is available on prescription from your doctor as fultium or desunim. Hope this helps. Heather
I always get my vitamins online, loads cheaper than the likes of Holland & Barrett. I use either healthspan.co.uk or bigvits.co.uk. Toi be honest I’ve never thought about reputable they are, but I’ve been using them for a few years & haven’t had any problems.
Don’t forget it is important to get your blood levels checked.
In fact through the post 15 mins ago I have recieved my spray Vd3 3000iu. This is bought from amazon, on line and various health shops and it is a Better You brand - which I use to live very near to in Sheffield. Only a few quid and 100 sprays - one spray a day. I will get my levels checked in March or April - when my year experiment will be complete.
I get stuff online from the Nutri Centre. They seem to have quite a good selection of brands. I usually go for one that’s gluten, dairy and soy free, eg Solgar. My MS Nurse mentioned casually that I should be taking at least 1000IU of D3 a day, but I’ve read elsewhere that you should start at 5000IU for a couple of months, then get your bloods checked and adjust accordingly. I think the important thing is to get your bloods checked every few months to monitor how you’re doing. I bought a D3 sun lamp that I’ve not used yet as I’m waiting for someone to unpack it for me. Your body makes vitamin D3 from the sun (UVB) but stops naturally when it’s made enough. I prefer that idea to popping pills. Heather
My neuro asked my gp to put me on high dose vit d. She spoke to her local pharmacist who wrote the prescription for something that needs me to take 4 a day but they won’thave Iit in stock until next Friday . no one has mentioned blood tests to me but at least it will be on the nhs
I would like one of those D3 sun lamps instead of taking the pills, but are they very expensive and where is the best place to buy one? I don’t like taking the vitamin d with calcium as it seems to make me feel worse.
I was buying D3 5000iu from a local health shop, then after a month or so my doctor put it on presciption for.
I found that when I was looking to buy it from stores, places like Boots and Holland & Barret only had dosages up to 1000iu, but online you can get far higher dosages.
But speak to your GP to see if it is available on prescription for you.
