hi this is my first time in here so not sure if I’m in the right place. I have recently had an mri scan which has shown tiny bright are in my brain. I am waiting for a neurology app with Ms as a possibility. I was wondering if I should con side taking vitamin B supplements whilst waiting as it seems to be mentioned quite regularly in posts on here.
Hi
Many neurologists recommend that people with MS take high dose Vitamin D. And a deficiency of B12 can either mimic or exacerbate MS symptoms. So lots of people take Vitamin D and B12, which is possibly what you’ve heard mention of. But it’s worth getting your levels of both checked before you start adding supplements.
Until you’ve actually had your neurology appointment, had MS confirmed (or otherwise) and asked for the neurologists advice, don’t start deciding that you have got MS. There are other diagnoses which could be responsible for whatever symptoms and abnormalities on your MRI that drove you towards a possible MS diagnosis.
Hopefully your appointment will be soon. Meanwhile, try not to worry too much. And by all means keep coming on here, in particular the Newly Diagnosed and Before Diagnosis forum maybe of use to you. Sadly there are many people who like yourself are in what is known as ‘Limboland’!

I wouldn’t start taking any supplements until you have a definite diagnosis, it could mask the underlying cause of your problems. And if you decide you must, do make sure you tell anyone you see, even for a blood test, what you are taking.
