On Friday I started to get a mild vibration type tremor. You know when you feel cold and your body shivers, its a little like that but usually in the left arm, sometimes the whole left side but occasionaly in the whole body. I read on the site that tremors aren’t usually felt until later in MS. I havent been diagnosed with MS but currently waiting Neurology for various numbing, tingling, etc.
Does anyone else get this? Its a very weird sensation and sometimes almost scary. It gets slightly worse if I tense but struggle not to. It isn’t always there but often more than not.
Thanks
Hi Js,
Do you mean it’s NOT externally visible - just a sensation? That would not be clinically diagnosed as a tremor, but a type of paraesthesia - i.e. literally wrong or abnormal feeling.
It would rank along with the numbness and tingling, and other sensory symptoms - these strange sensations are usually caused by the biological equivalent of a wiring fault!
As you are undiagnosed, I do not want to reply as if it’s definitely MS, as there are many other possibilities. However, in general, MS symptoms do tend to get worse when you’re stressed. I’m not saying they’re in any way imagined or psychological - they just tend to flare up when you get agitated. So I know it’s hard, but you will be doing yourself a favour if you can learn to stay calm when noticing symptoms. Otherwise you can get in a vicious circle where you notice the symptom, your stress levels go up, and the symptom immediately becomes even more noticeable.
You’ll have to trust me on this, but once you’ve lived with them a while, symptoms start to get less scary. You get used to the idea it’s just a short circuit somewhere - one of your body’s little tricks.
Hope this helps,
Tina
Thanks Tina,
I think the majority is just felt but occasionaly when I think about it, then my arm moves slightly but only visible because I’m looking for it - if you see what I mean? Although when it started, there was definitely movement. Maybe it is the sensation and i’m just making it happen when I look. Sometimes my hands seem to do weird stuff when I type or shift a peice of paper - as if its just skipped a beat/had a quick shake, its very hard to explain it. Maybe I’m just seeing what I’m feeling to make sense of it. ![ ](https://emoji.discourse-cdn.com/twitter/slight_smile.png?v=12)
Hi Js, i get these tremors/vibrations. I get a strong internal vibration that goes right thru the core of my body, so not visible and i get visible tremors in my hands/armsand more recently an involuntary tick in my head, where my head jerks quickly to one side.
These are weird sensations and for me are worse when i;m tired or had a sressfuk day, I’m not dx either and my neuro completely ignred them even though the visible ones were happening when I was with him.
They do get less scary, i’m quite used to them now but sometimes get a bit embarressed when they happen at work for instance.
Hope you get some answers soon. xx
