Vaccine help?

Hi everyone,

I’m Didi, new here. Got diagnosed March 2021, so everything’s still a bit recent. I’m wondering if anyone has any tips about the vaccine?

I got the first dose of the Astra Zeneca soon after my diagnosis, as I was categorized high risk. However, I ended up having a relapse. Doctors don’t know if it was the vaccine that caused it but it was my worse one yet - 10 weeks of symptoms and two new lesions.

So, we postponed getting my second one until I recovered / had my scans done. I have only now stabilized, so the option of getting my second vaccine is still there.

My question is, since it’s been 6 months between, do I need to restart my vaccine course? Should I go with a different one, like Pfizer?

I need to be vaccinated to travel, but am worried that the really big gap between my vaccines means I won’t be considered fully vaccinated.

Borders have finally opened between the U.S. and U.K. and I just don’t want to give them any reason to turn me away.

But I just haven’t been able to find guidelines or research anywhere. All travel rules only state “you must have had 2 doses of a vaccine”.

Any tips or pointers? Thank you!

Possible you didn’t get on with the vaccine, however, I don’t know anyone with MS that relapsed after they got theirs so it is also possible it was just a coincidence.

I’d already had Covid before my first Vaccine and neither Covid nor either doses of Astra Zeneca triggered a relapse.

Sooner you get it the sooner you boost it’s effectiveness. That may or may not trigger a relapse but if you get Covid without the vaccine that could also trigger a relapse and then you’d be relapsing and dealing with Covid at the same time.

So for me I’d take the risk now, 1 more dose, rather than wait until it’s effectiveness is so low and end up needing 2 doeses later.
