Hi all Visited the urologist yesterday to see if he could get to the bottom of these continuous water infections I have been getting since April. It was all very organised and after having an X-ray on bladder and kidneys and then ultrasound on bladder they didn’t need to do a cystoscopy (phew…) as they found a 2cm stone in my bladder which the urologist said will probably be the cause of the ongoing infections. So how do you get rid of it was my next question…by doing a cystoscopy but under general anaesthetic!!! Oh joys I wasn’t expecting that, waiting time at least 2months and in the mean time I have to put up with the infections as no amount of antibiotics will completely get rid of it as it sticks to the stone!!! Oh joy of joys…at least it’s nothing sinister but I am already getting very anxious about an overnight stay in hospital!!! Hope you are all as well as can be? luv Linda x
Hi Linda Really glad they found something that can be dealt with. Hopefully, they will sort you out and the UTIs will be history! Fingers crossed that you won’t get too many UTIs before the appointment! Good Luck, Teresa xx
Hi Teresa Many thanks, as you say it’s good they found something that can be treated!! Wish it was a bit sooner though!! ;( Linda x
Hi again Linda, Have they said that you need to stay overnight? I have had a couple of cystoscopies - one under GA and was only in as a day case. Maybe the removal of the stone means they have to keep a closer eye on you! Teresa xx
Hi
The most likely scenario is the stone will be dissolved by ultrasound waves or lasers then the pieces flushed out. Less UTI’s, relief or what?
S.
Hi Teresa Yes it’s definitely an overnight stay!!! I guess when the stone is brokenness up they have to monitor it comes out ok!!! Unfortunately because I’m not being seen until mid December I just have to put up with infections until then as apparently the infection sticks to the stone so can never be infection free!! Oh joys… Linda x
Hi S Yes it will be great to be infection free…fingers crossed Linda x
Hi Linda That is very hard - to know that you will just keep getting reinfected. However, keep strong by reminding yourself that come December you will have an end to infections and hopefully a healthy Christmas! Sorry it is an overnight stay. They must feel the need to monitor you, perhaps? Keep us posted about how it all goes. Teresa xx
Hi Linda, sorry hun, I cant give you any advice on that, but I do want to send you my love and support.
luv Pollx
Thanks a lot Poll that means a lot luv Linda x
Hi Teresa I think the overnight stay is to make sure the stone flushes out, so my guess is they will have me drinking for England ( or the stone!!!). Don’t mind that as long as I don’t need to keep catheterising myself with the trauma that causes me!!! Will certainly let you know what happens… luv Linda x
Yes, you could be right Linda. Lots of drinking will probably be what they tell you to do. hopefully, you’ll be able to catheterise afterwards without problems! Teresa xx
