Hi all, had a second appointment today with a continence nurse the last one being 4 weeks ago. After the 5th lot of antibiotics I couldn’t believe I have another infection . She has concluded after having several bladder scans by her and my ms nurse that I am not emptying my bladder so now is going to refer me to a urologist. They have all been very nice but surely this should have been done weeks and weeks ago as they said this was the problem in the first place and mentioned self catheterising. Sometimes I could scream. Anyone any idea what the urologist will do ? Karen x

I would think that he/she would recommend self-catheterisation. My continence nurse taught me how to do this and my GP made sure I didn’t have to go through the gynae / urologist first. It won’t be them that teaches you, after all. You’ll just be referred back to the continence team, I think. He/she may recommend something else I suppose. I could be wrong. Teresa xx

Hi again Karen, I was seen quite quickly as I was in despair with my bladder problems and sobbed first to my GP and then on the 'phone to the continence nurse. I think they could tell that I was at breaking point, so expedited a visit by one of the nurses. If you are really desperate I’m sure they will help. I was in such a terrible state physically and mentally that everyone pulled out the stops for me. ISC has changed my life, for the better. I hope you can get seen soon. Teresa xx
