Hi all, I’m a 33 year old male from the north east coast of Scotland. I went for an MRI of my head without contrast around 12 months ago for an unrelated reason which highlighted quite a few lesions on my brain. My care was then passed onto a neurologist who raised the suspicion of MS. I have recently been for a head and neck MRI with contrast and a lumbar puncture and am currently waiting rather impatiently on the results. I’ve had ‘symptoms’ for quite some time now and the diagnosis of MS would make sense and probably fit my symptoms, but, this could all just be stress induced?! Is there anyone here who has been diagnosed at or around my age? Any tips or tricks to deal with the anxiety of waiting?
Hi Joe, I a sorry I didnt see your post sooner.
I expect you have your results by now, eh? How did that go?
Waiting for results is the pits. It took 22 years to get my diagnosis of PPMS…too late for any treatment. But my progression was so fast. I’ve been paraplegic for years.

Hi Boudsx,
Thank you for your reply. The MRI with contrast showed no new or active lesions, so just the ones that were spotted beforehand leading to all these tests. There were no ‘O’ bands in my spinal fluid which is also reassuring. I have an appointment with the neurologist in march but with all of the symptoms I have/am still having it’s looking ever more likely that it has been CIS. Not entirely sure what the next steps are but I guess I will have all of my answers on the 1st of march. Is it likely that I’ll be started on some sort of treatment to stop it progressing to MS or more likely that I’ll just have regular MRI appointments?
Thanks,
Joe
Have they done a range of blood tests, eg. checking B12 levels, or for coeliacs, or Lyme disease, if you are an outdoor type seeing that Lyme and ticks are quite prevelant in Scotland? There are many things that can cause lesions in the brain.
Hi Zoila,
Yes, they’ve tested for absolutely everything and they’ve all been good
Hi Joe, I’m newly diagnosed with RRMS. What sort of symptoms are you getting. I know they say everyone’s different which it is. But maybe we understand more. Hope your well matey
