New probable diagnosis

Hi everyone.

Last Tuesday I had a lumbar puncture and my second MRI in order to confirm a MS diagnosis, which for now is only “suspected” by the neurologist. I have no idea how long it might take me to hear the results (the dr who did my lumbar puncture said about a week, but I don’t know if MRIs take longer) and I’m finding the wait very difficult.

My journey towards the diagnosis started around the summer of last year when I started having big spots in one of my eyes, and I still have spots now and also extreme fatigue and some weird sensory things, though thankfully that is all. An MRI done in December showed that I have lesions in my optic nerve and brain, and apparently the brain ones look like “typical” MS lesions.

I just wanted to post here because I’m scared and worried at the moment. How did you all get through the waiting period before diagnosis?

Hi there

I just wanted to follow up and say I am sorry you are suffering. Like you I am currently mid testing. Having had brain lesions found in Jan and I had SSEP tests yesterday and LP on the 19th so up in the air. I guess for me, it is accepting that worrying will not change the outcome whatever it is, so trying to distract myself as much as possible and avoiding googling! I have been pretty down but beautiful sunshine atm helps lift my mood. Please feel free to message if you need someone to talk to.

It’s just a matter of sitting it out, I’m afraid. The good news is that time passes - that’s all it does - and the bad news is that there isn’t any speeding it up. Hang on in there. You’ll get through it.
