Hello,
I am new here, and firstly wanted to say thank you to everyone who is sharing here, it’s been a great source of comfort over the past few months.
I had two MRIs, one that showed a few lesions (following a kidney infection and BPPV) and more recently another showing 1 new lesions but fortunately the others have become barely visible.
I have also had a lumbar puncture 4 weeks ago and still waiting for results.
Has anyone had a similar long waiting period? The uncertainty is quite frustrating and starting to take a toll on my day to day worry.
Thank you
It would feel like it was taking forever even if it wasn’t. I’m afraid there’s nothing to do but wait (plus chase it up from time to time). August tends to be particularly awful - everybody’s on holiday including the person who would report on the findings, the person who would dictate the letter and the person who would type it up and send it. You get the picture. Mine was the same time of year, come to think of it, and August was as bad then, even 25 years ago.
Welcome to the forum.
thank you Alison. Really appreciate your response
Hope you are doing well

Yes, I did and it had me crawling up the wall. For me, the LP was the missing piece in my diagnosis - so basically it would decide whether or not I had MS.
I waited in person for the postman. I desperately called the consultant’s secretary. When I finally got through, after multiple attempts to call/email them, I was told they would not give me the result. Too confidential - not on the phone not by email. Eventually I asked them to email my results to my GP practice and went there. In fact, I sprinted to the practice.
My excellent GP practice not only printed off the result but made an appointment for me to see my GP that very day (it was bad news for me).
The whole process took about 8 weeks, but lost of trusts manage better than that.
I’m not sure what to suggest. But if there is any activity you can do that would really occupy your mind - something you that makes you concentrate on something else - do that.
I hope you get good news, and soon.
