Unexplained movement in my peripheral vision. Does anyone else with MS experience this?

Hi

I have recently been experiencing strange movements in my peripheral vision. Sometimes it looks as if I can see a spider or something crawling along the carpet or someone standing in my peripheral vision but when I look directly at the area there’s actually nothing there.

It’s starting to freak me out.

Does anyone else with MS experience this?

Hi Anon, yes I get it. Often think a mouse is running across floor or a bird is flying towards me… I even duck sometimes!

I spoke to my optician about it and he said it is nerve damage from the MS causing it. I then told my neuro and he agreed that it’s MS nerve damage.

Now I know what it is it doesn’t freak me out so much (although I still have to look to make sure it’s not actually a mouse!)

yep, i have this too. same thing as others have noticed - spiders, mice, sometimes someone walking past the window outside.

-me too with the mouse running across the floor or spider (massive) running up the wall. Same as you, nothing there when Ive mentioned it to others.

Ive had ON and now nastygmus. Have prisms which helped realign my eyes. Doesnt happen so much now.

You are definately not alone in this… my last relapse left me with double vision but only towards the peripheral of my viewing range (so I tend to turn my head a lot more) … I end up all over the place sometimes swearing that I could see mice, moths, all manner of dark shapes moving around. Am used to it now but every so often I still find myself caught off-guard.

Stay well. Steve. x

so strange i posted my reply twice

I thought I only experienced this because I was so tired and it was my mind playing tricks!

I can remember the first time I noticed this it was in Freshers week at uni, I thought there was a huge bug on my top. I guessed I’d been on the razzle too much and could do with an early night but years later I was then diagnosed with M.S. and I still get this from time to time. Who knows maybe that was an early MS symptom or maybe it was just too much vodka!!! lol.
