Hi all, back in 2022 I had optic neuritis and was diagnosed with mogad disease, I was told at the time that I did not have ms but I could well do later down the line. Over the past month I’ve started getting leg tremors, if I lay on my back with my knees up and legs bent my, involuntarily my legs crash into each other and my trunk shakes at the same time. Then around two weeks ago I started getting arm and hand tremors. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced these or not. I also still have the epb virus active.
Thank you
Gavin
Hi Gavin - I understand your concerns. My question would be to ask you if you’ve had an MRI scan and if so, what their results indicated? That seems to be the only definitive way of knowing.
I hadn’t hear of Mogad disease but from the little I’ve read doesn’t this also have relapse type episodes? Have you seen anyone about what could be a relapse/ flare up of Mogad?
MOGAD is characterised by specific antibodies- this was questioned when I had initial MRI scans done which showed large area of demyelination and inflammation query cause, the key was in the lumbar puncture- this detect MOG antibodies whereas in MS these are negative and oligoclonal bands are found.
I assume if you have been given this diagnosis, you have had a lumbar puncture and the neurologist has found these MOG antibodies. The disease presentation is very similar and symptoms etc, so it’s very like MS, but the difference is the underlying autoantibody problem.
Either way, if you have had worsening symptoms despite any medication you may be on, you should speak to your neurology team so they can review your treatments.
