Hi

Steph,
I take turmeric in pill form but, naturally, I cannot rationally evaluate the benefits, if any. I take 1440mg daily which I source from Amazon, although other outlets are available.
The best way, of course, to gain the maximum efficacy of turmeric is by cooking although this may not be feasible on a daily basis.
I also take Vitamin D; 5000iu per day. Is that what you take?
I find that these supplements, in conjunction with three doses of CBD oil daily, certainly help to maintain my wellbeing, and I believe they have reduced the decline in my mobility. I also believe that the CBD oil has reduced my bladder urge incontinence and generally improved my bladder control. This I can evaluate as I have reduced the number of overnight visits to the toilet from five to two, sometimes three.
Best wishes.

Hi Alun,
Thanks for your reply! I have taken vitamin d 5000iu since I was diagnosed (coming up to 5 years now) however like you say with the turmeric supplements I’m unsure if they really have had any effect on my MS or health in general; I just keep taking them cos hey they can’t hurt. However I noticed last night when looking to purchase some more vit d you can now buy 10,000iu as a single dosage but was unsure about buying them because surely that’s a bit excessive, although I do live in not so sunny Northern Ireland so I probably need all the help I can get!
I was wondering if you could tell me a bit more about CBD oil such as is there different strengths of it and where you purchase your CBD oil as I have great interest in trying it out to see if it can help with my spasms and chronic pain but I’m unsure of the best place to get it. I do know holland and Barrett do it online though.
Thanks
Steph
I think there was something about tumeric on the Barts hospital MS site (but I may have this mixed up). Anyway, as I understand it, there are indications that tumeric can help. But there are two types of tumeric and u need the expensive one as the cheap type is toxic in high doses. Sorry I cant remember which type is which.

Steph,
If you are considering increasing your Vitamin D intake, I would advise you to consult your GP and have your blood tested for Vit D levels. High intake can lead to calcification therefore a little caution is recommended.
Are you taking a Magnesium supplement to help with your spasms? A lot of people swear by this.
As for CBD, I obtain my supply from CBD brothers, a company only about 30 miles from where I live in Suffolk.
There are different ways of taking CBD and, ultimately, it is a matter of what suits you. There are no recommended doses and it is up to you to find the right amount that suits. At present, new legislation has been introduced requiring sellers to obtain a licence before it can be sold as a medicine, with dosage advice and so on. Whilst licences are being sought, CBD is sold as a food supplement.
I have tried the 25% paste and I found that beneficial, although a taste for the flavour has to be acquired. I was taking three doses daily; just under 0.5ml per dose approximately.
Currently, I am taking the 25% CBD oil; two drops three times a day. This has a pleasant taste as it is mixed with hemp oil.
I have also bought some 25% capsules and the CBD is mixed with coconut oil. I have yet to try these.
You may find a source closer to home, but I can certainly recommend CBD brothers.
I hope this has been of some help to you.
