After 3 days in hospital I am now sporting a nice new knee. Now the hard work begins and I don’t think I realised just how bad it would be. I keep getting told to take the weight on my good leg but unfortunately my operated leg is my good leg. I have drop foot and general weakness in my left leg and can’t lift it up a step. This almost caused a disaster trying to get into the house on coming home when I started to fall backwards. Luckily my lovely husband is my support in more ways than one.
So now I am trying to do walking little and often which is really hard as well as the other exercises I have been given. I am putting on a brave face for my family and friends as I don’t want them to worry, but I know you will all understand. I am sure it will improve but at the moment it is all I can do to shuffle down the lounge with my rollator - walking it certainly isn’t.
Just feeling a bit sorry for myself, I’ll get over it.
Sorry to hear you’ve been in hospital Seabird I hope you feel better soon. My mother in law had a new knee a few years ago and it took her a while to get back on her feet she’s fine now but she doesn’t have MS l really hope you feel better soon. Michelle x
Nice one Anthony!! Seabird -you are allowed to feel sorry for yourself sometimes. You ate having a tough time just now. Even tougher than usual. You’ll get there. We always do. Little by little. Day by day. Sending hugs Anne
You don’t know what these messages mean to me. The support from this group is second to none. Feeling better this morning, and knowing that there is this whole group of people behind me who get it is wonderful.
I think you know how exceptional you’ve already been.
Here’s a link to Seabird winning The Epsom Derby in 1965.
It was a cracking race. I’m not saying you’ll be running as fast as your thoroughbred namesake but with time and patience you’ll be winning your own races.
The Derby was on my bucket list and I was lucky enough to have been twice. It’s probably one of the most thrilling experiences of my life. All those horses thundering along. You are moved by the noise alone.
