Tramadol

Hi Is anyone taking Tramadol with Gabapentin and Amitryptiline for nerve pain? I take 3600mg of Gabapentin a day and 40mg of Amitryptiline at night for nerve pain but I get a lot of break through pain and it’s driving me mad. I read that Tramadol can be used for nerve pain and I wondered if anyone had used it in conjunction with Gabapentin and what was the reaction. My GP doesn’t know a lot about MS and often asks what I think he can do for me! I often feel like saying you’re the doctor not me but he is great for anything else so I stay with him.

My hubby takes tramadol with a high dose of paracetamol for cervical spndylosis and it seems to work better than other things, so yes it’s good for pain but some people can’t take tramadol, as for how it would be with Gabapentin sorry only someone on it can tell you how t is, hopefully there is that person on here for,you xxl

tramadol is very addictive and not easy to give up :frowning:

Hi, I’m undiagnosed so not sure how useful this is regard your pain but at the beginning of summer and into the middle of summer I was taking gabapentin with tramadol and it was the best I’d felt for many months - so you certainly can take them together to no ill effect but I guess it depends on your own personal reaction to the drugs. I also gave them up easily but hadn’t been on them for that long really, maybe 3 months max. Not sure why I stopped but am coping ok without at the moment so staying off as long as I can. Dx

Sorry, forgot to say I was also taking amitryptiline with the gabapentin prior to the tramadol but stopped it when I went onto tramadol as I wasn’t sure about the mix. So maybe that’s not so useful to you afterall!!

hi

Im taking amytriptyline 50mg and 200mg of tramadol a day. The only side effect so far is tiredness, but i have been told that any higher dose and the mix can produce seretonin seizures.

Hi and thanks for your answers. I didn’t want to stop the Gabapentin or Amitryptiline because they have helped a lot with controlling the nerve pain, but I was going to ask my doctor for something just to take when I got the break through pain so I wouldn’t be taking it regularly. I’m going to see him next week and hope he has some idea what he can give me.
