Personally I thought England settled back way too soon after the first early goal, they let Italy off the hook and it came back to bite them on the bum second half.
Very poor decision to bring on 2 “cold” players with only 2 minutes remaining just to take penalties, Southgate should of brought them on with at least the second half of extra time remaining, the 2 players were just thrown on the pitch in a massive game in front of a home crowd who simply thought it was going to be an odds on win, complete madness, huge pressure, and dare I say it bit of cockiness to think they would get away with it.
They are young players and will have long career’s but next time they step up to take a penalty, especially in a game this big, it will all come flooding back, but will also be a very good learning curve for both players AND manager.
If I’m honest I thought England were very good against Denmark but not as good against Italy, and on the night Italy deserved it, with or without penalties.
