This board has changed

I haven’t been on here in ages and the board thinks I am a new user . It looks like the board has died. No new comments or topic. Earliest thread on here is a month old so not many visitors. I’ll check back in a few days. Don

Hi Don

Lovely to see you here it’s been a long time. I agree with you it has changed and not for the better I’m afraid, not like it was, which is sad.

Hope you and your wife are both doing as good as you can.

It’s sad but true the board is not the same, I am usually more active but have had a hellish 2 months. Not MS which makes a change, my brother (11 years older) passed - I detest the word died. Then within a month my sister (15 years older) passed. You do the maths I’m 66.
Take care, be safe M  x

Hi sorry to hear your sad news :slightly_frowning_face:
I don’t know why I don’t come here now I don’t use my iPad as much as I used to but that’s an excuse. I don’t do social media either. I won’t come back, I’ve not left I’m just missing in action :joy:

Hi M

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your brother and sister especially so close together.

With regard to needing a ramp it might be the best option to have a word with an OT.

Take care

Pam xx

Hello. I’m still here, but the whole forum isnt what it was.

Hi, it just seems so quiet :zipper_mouth_face:

Hi Don

I agree it is quiet, shame really because the old forum was such a busy meeting place.

Hope you and Heather are ok.

I wasn’t around for the “old” forum but the current one seems to be the best of the bunch, particularly for UK MSers. Some American boards are too pushy e.g. shift.ms, myMSteam, though worth an occasional look-in for content.

I frequent other forums (not MS-related) and find the mssociety forum to be a bit straight and over-moderated. The sense of community on other boards comes from cutting loose a bit, perhaps being a little edgy: in short, allowing one’s personality to get out.

Among other things, this forum needs a gallery, more room for personal details. When someone with MS posts a comment, it would be useful to know to whom one is responding: gender, approx. age, approximate location (town/county), home / family circumstances, a little background regarding their MS and other medically relevant info, other interests etc.

It’s up to MSsociety what they want their forum to be. Currently it’s a bulletin board, very stiff and factual, but it could be so much more. Its current format is at odds with the rest of the MSsociety, which is very community-orientated, with local groups and scope for friendships to form and blossom.

The forum administrators and moderators may take offence at my comments and construe them as critical and ungrateful. I hope not: I’m trying to be constructive and indeed, would happily put myself forward to contribute to the continuous improvement of the platform.

Actually, could someone report my post  :upside_down_face: :innocent: please? That would flag it up to the mods / admins and they would have to then read it and decide whether to engage with me (or not). Ta!

I have just sent a message direct to the moderators asking them to request feedback on the changes that have been made to the forum.

Also, I have asked them to think about the impact of the changes and then to request from ourselves what we feel is missing.

I have asked them to comeback to me with any initial thoughts, which I will share in due course.
