You don’t have to be nice all the time, to be nice to be around. Be you. I agree, a constant misery is probably no fun to yourself or others, but a good gripe is healthy in my opinion, especially if it clears the air a tiny little bit. A very happy Thursday to you and all xxx
Dear Poppy, I am so sorry that you are having a horrid time.
Alison
I hate it too…but I know it`s with me and Mr Polly for life…mine anyway…but nevertheless, I find things to laugh about.
Just now I am going through an awful time with trying to sack a carer who says I am exaggerating my condition…ffs!(soz admin) Why the chuff would I let my naff body act like it does on purpose? for attention? for the benefit? or for some other reason I havent yet discovered?
Popps, drape a cover over the hoist when it isnt in use and teach it sing like a budgie! See, told you I am still daft!

Hahaha!!!
Ah Pops, it was so sad to read your post and the roller coaster of progression you’re experiencing. I love how you’re excitedly looking forward to your new power chair for inside & outdoors.
It’ll be very interesting to learn about the installation and practicalities of the hoist on a track. I can understand the frustration, disappointment and worries at the deterioration that PPMS has affected your earlier fit and healthy. self.
It’s good to see you’ve been able to giggle at the jokes in the Forum. I wish you well Pops and hope you’re able to enjoy your family and your Carer. How fortunate she has experienced hoists and knows exactly how to help you.
This brain illness isn’t bladdy easy, but the hoist, other equipment, the power chair etc will hopefully help you to adjust to this new challenge.
Lots of love flowing through the forums to mentally support you Polly.
Take care hon, we’re thinking of you.
Chrissie xx
Thank you sweetie Chrissie.
My hoist is the smaller one, a mobile hoist. We were given the option of three types and chose the mobile one. It’s easy to move from room to room and not a huge contraption.
All four of my ‘shower ladies’ as I refer to them use them on a daily basis apparently for various clients. As I can’t now push myself around with the gammy hand, I’m hoping the new power chair allows me to get around the house and drive up the ramp into our car/van. I can cry rivers… oceans, but it won’t change a flipping thing so I’ll just have to get used to it. Onwards and upwards indeed.
Youll be ok once you get used to it Popps. I hoist about 12 times a day. Im glad you are getting on well with the portable hoist. When do you expect the power chair? Mine is a Salsa Quickie…I got it from wheelchair services and was horrified to learn they cost £7.5k…flippin eck, eh?

It’s being delivered to the agents in Cork on the 28th apparently then directly to my home. It is a salsa mini. I was shocked at the price too. I can’t believe how lucky I am to be getting the manual one replaced also. Especially when it’ll be just for travel or going to somewhere the motorised chair won’t be suitable, like someone’s house or with steps. That’s a Quickie Lite.
