Tena pads - can they be prescribed by Dr?

Hi everyone - one of the first issues I had was my bladder - at the grand old age of 36 I was told by the Dr that as we get older these things can happen!! Anyway, it’s still with 20 years later but getting worse - does anyone get continence products on prescription? I have seen a Urologist but the new tablets they suggested didn’t suit me so I take Oxybutynin which are quite good but I still need the pads. Also I’m too squeamish to do catherisation and all that kind of stuff.

Thanks

Hi Juniper

ask your continence nurse.

if you don’t have one go to your nearest Bladder & Bowel clinic (either by referral by GP or you can self refer).

the nurses there can prescribe pads.

Hi catwoman - thanks I will do that

the first ones were Tena (although bigger) then it went to NHS (which are HUUGE!!).

My district nurses prescribe my pads for me. They are Haartman . We cant have Tena lady in our area. But other areas do.

Hello,

How do you ‘get rid of’ the used pads then please? Also, how would I ‘store them’ whilst waiting to ‘get rid/Dispose’ of them please?

buy nappy sacks for disposing of your pads.

Then, do we put them in our rubbish bins please? ty

yes in the bin unless you have a coal fire in which case burn them, however I don’t know what that would smell like.

If your pads are prescribed, we have a weekly collection. They go into a big yellow bag in our garage ready for Thursday`s pick up.
