For me its my rollator, it allows me to get around the house without fear of falling over and to get out to the shops. Such an obvious thing and it does not make me feel self conscious either.
Hi Patrick, for me it is definitely my mobility scooter.
Without it would be just about housebound. I can manage to walk to local shop with rollator… but by the time I’ve been round shop (it’s a mini market) I haven’t got what it takes to walk home again!
With scooter I am free to go to the busy shopping centre close to where I live. I can go round all the shops… most are accessable… I can stop for coffee or lunch… I can fit 2 bags of shopping between my feet and another on the shopping basket… OR I can go to local park and see a bit of nature.
On Monday I went on coach trip to Southend and scooter was put in boot.
I can’t imagine life without my scooter… oh and my folding walking stick for when I get off scooter!
Of course I’m not always well enough to use it (like today… I’m stuck in bed) but there is always hope that tomorrow I’ll be up to a trip out!
I don’t know if this counts in the same way regarding your question but my catheters! Last week I started self-catheterisation and it has transformed my life, for the good! It’s fantastic. Teresa xx
