I always used to take our dog out on my own when I used my scooter. I now need to be hoisted and my powerchair is much higher than my scooter. Has anyone used a pooper scooper from a wheelchair with success? I certainly can’t reach the ground and wondered about the long handled scoopers but not sure of the practicalities.

I have used a pooper scooper when out in a chair. It certainly seemed to work OK if used in short grass or on a pavement but longer grass used to be a bit of an issue. It also depended on how “solid” the deposit is as if it’s soft the scooper can easily squash and leave some of it behind.
We did find one that folds in half which makes it easier for storing whilst out and about. Also, make sure that the bags you use are big enough to cover the scoop part.
Good luck.

Okay, thanks, I’ll give it a go. It would be really useful to be able to go out by myself.
Could you take a long stick and somehow flick it out of the pathway? I realise this may depend on where your dog has decided to go…
Personally, I live in the country and I get so annoyed by plastic pollution, with little bags left all over the place. Yes, it’s best to avoid dog dirt on pavements/right in the pathway - also to help people with visual impairments. But ultimately, excrement is part of nature, we don’t clear up any other animals poo, we use and clean appropriate footwear.
Honestly, I don’t like getting it on my shoes, but I’d rather do that than think of someone disabled feeling they couldn’t walk their dog.
