Suspected MS diagnosis due to brain lesions

Hi,
I’m Tasha, I’m 33. About 18 months ago an incidental MRI finding showed I had several brain lesions. About a year later I have a drawn out worsening headache (for 3 weeks) before going to A&E. A repeat MRI showed another lesion had developed. I have had no symptoms at all. I spoke to my neurologist and they are thinking of going down the MS route as this in the mostly likely diagnosis for my age. I just wanted to involve myself in a group and find out more. I’ve been reading up on it on Google but it’s hard to get a personal perspective from that.

Has anyone else been diagnosed without symptoms?
How long did symptoms take to appear?
And what is it like living with MS?
Thanks😊

Hi Tasha, I was getting symptoms long before I had a diagnosis but I had a clueless GP and it was a visit to A&E that set me down a path to finally solve the riddle of these weird things that kept happening to me. MS can be very different for different people and some get it worse than others. Personally, I’m still enjoying a pretty full life albeit I know I can’t do what I used to - fatigue etc. Stay positive

Sudden arrival of out-of-the-blue classic CNS symptoms in my case. For all I know, I might have had silent (as in ‘not obviously symptomatic’) lesions already, but would have known nothing of them for the same reason that you didn’t know about yours. As I understand it, it’s the placement of the lesions that is critical to the symptoms they cause: fortunately-placed ones don’t cause obvious trouble, but unfortunately-placed ones can be very bad.

If they decide that it is MS, then you and your advisors might have some head-scratching to do about disease-modifying therapies and how you weigh up the potential risks and benefits to you of those for which you might be eligible.

I am sorry that this trouble has landed at your door. It is a shock to the system, whatever the circumstances, and I think it’s fair to say that your circs are pretty unusual.
Good luck with it all.
