Just wondered if any of you who have had steroids noticed any difference /preference between iv and tablet form?
Hi, i have had both, once each, and when i need them next time i’ll be askin for the iv.
On the iv i did have greater side affects, day one i was fine, day 2 i remember being pasty and not having much appetite and had headaches i think, day 3 i was flushed and constantly hungry, which made up for the previous day. I had to keep the canula in my wrist over the three days but that was ok, and was only on the drip for an hour or so each day then went home after a lovely free hospital lunch which was a nice little bonus. After about a week i felt great, better than i had done for years infact, and i remember the doc saying it did wonders for arthritis too ( something he wasn’t telling me?)
The tablets came with less side affects and to be honest didn’t really have any rememerable benefits but the relapse that they were for was a lot more severe than the first.
I would go for the iv every time. Hope that helps.
Hello there, the IV 'roids tend to give a bigger and quicker ‘whack’.These are my experiences, others may and will differ.I found the effects of the tablet form less noticeable in the short term, but I reckon they do tend to do their ‘good things’ in a less discernable way.
The difference in side effects can be quite marked.Hoovering at 03.00 once was a strange yet useful effect of the IV.Body weight, overall condition, sex(steady) other medications are all factors in the effects of both types.Over the past 11 years I’ve had more 'roids than some Olympic teams, but now the unwanted effects outweigh the good ones,so I won’t be indulging again.
Be lucky, Wb
Thanks for your comments. Going tomorrow to see consultant so it could be 03.00 kitchen cupboard cleaning again!
