Can i ask where does people get their steriods for a relapse from my Dr surgery has said they cannot prescribe the high dosage of 500mg for me it has to come from a hospital has anyone had this problem just curious.
Hello
Have you got an MS nurse? Mine wrote to my GP years ago to explain the dosage for an MS relapse and included information so they could check it out. Ever since then the GP was happy to prescribe. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t.
Or you could point your GP towards this: https://mstrust.org.uk/a-z/steroids-methylprednisolone or even better: https://bnf.nice.org.uk/drug/methylprednisolone.html
Both the MS Trust and NICE state that the dosage for an MS relapse is 500mg daily for 5 days (orally).
The GP could look it up for themselves of course!

Hi thank you for the reply, i dont have a MS nurse they javent told me about one but one of the consultants have qrote to my Dr showing and confirming its ok bit she still didnt want to prescribe it so today the consultant had to send the prescription direct to a hospital pharmacy so i can go and collect it.
