SSRI s

anybody got any experience of ssri for depression etc. whilst using gabapentin and baclofen?

look forward to hearing from somebody, please.

sorry no but i’ve bumped you up

I’ve used paroxatine & gabapentin at the same time, now off the paroxatine because I was having suicidal thoughts, but apparantley this is a side affect of that drug, there was a big thing on TV about it a couple of years or so ago! Hope this helps Sue x

A lot of PwMS are prescribed SSRIs and also take gabapentin / pregabalin. It depends on the med, but I think the main potential side effect is a sort of 2 + 2 = 5 effect, i.e. your nervous system activity may get suppressed more than would be expected.

You can check out any potentially dodgy drug interactions by typing in both names (e.g. citalopram and gabapentin) into the search box on www.drugs.com.

Hi,

I am just about to start Cymbalta as well my Gabapentin. Cymbalta has very effective neuropthic pain control properties as well as being an anti-depressant which is why my neuro has chosen this anti-depresant for me. I was on Citralopam for depresion and it worked very well for depression. I was talking it with gabapentin and baclofen with no problems but my pain is increasing thus the change in meds.

Citralopam is an SSRI while Cymblata is an SRNI but they are chemically very similar.

You shouldn’t have any problems.

Cheers,

Belinda
