Shielding with fingolimod

Hi all, hope everyone is well as can be!

just a question please if anyone can help…since the whole virus thing started and lock down was announced, I stayed off work due to being in fingolimod and having no immune system. I also have mild asthma but that’s by the by.
I still have not received a shielding letter which I assumed I would with fingolimod being a immune suppressant. I tried to phone my neurologist to say about this, but could not get through, so I phoned my doctor.
my doctor has come back to me and said I do not qualify for a shielding letter and it’s all done in a points system??

does anyone have any help with this as I’m going to go back to work Monday now as I can’t prove that I need to be off.

I just don’t understand when all the info says be very careful because of the treatment

hi.

im on the same dmd and did receive a letter from nhs Consultant

in the letter its states that with taking fingolimod that we are in the medium @ risk and to do social distancing which im sure your doing anyway.

My wife is on fingolimod and has not had a letter either? It seems to be very hit and miss as we have had people in her local MS group on lots of meds with severe symptoms and no letter. Sorry not to be of more help other than understand your frustration.

Hi.

I too am on Fingolimod and also received a letter form my MS Nurse and one from my Consultant.

Mine where pretty much the same as mickthetrick - States medium risk, no need for shielding but to practice Social distancing the same as everyone else is doing at the moment. The nurse letter says the same and that no need to attend my blood test appointment which was due and they have delayed that until July.

Have you read the care and support section on this website? It’s gives very good information about the different DMDs and Covid-19 impact https://www.mssociety.org.uk/care-and-support/ms-and-coronavirus-care-and-support Section 3 is very useful.
