Severe anxiety help please ?

Hi Everyone,

I was due to have a mri in October, i had to cancel as my anxiety is really severe. I have not been able to go through with a mri. I cant even get out of the house to attend the appointment. I have had mri’s for years. Now i am finding it extremely difficult to have a mri, and i am extremely worried about getting the results. I suffer alot with dizzeness especially when lying down and moving around. I am undergoing further test, as i have been told i have mild sleep apnea from a sleep study. I am also going through the menopause. The anxiety is terrible, and i feel so drained. I was put on setraline for anxiety, but had really bad side effects, so i had to stop. So on nothing for the anxiety. Its nearly 2 years since my last mri. I have been offered diazepam, but i just cant seem to get to the appointment, the anxiety is that severe. I wake up every morning with headache etc. The anxiety is awful. It affects my stomach, my head feels like my blood pressure has gone through the roof. I feel like i cant breath in properly. I am on Tecfidera. Any advise please ? Has anyone experience these awful symptoms?

I was exactly the same i had a panic attack half way through my anxiety is worsening as my ms does but I also no stress makes it worse

The thing that I have found that helps with the anxiety, insomnia and lots of other fun stuff that can come with the menopause is HRT. I know it’s not for everyone, but it has certainly helped me.

I am sorry that you are having such a difficult time.

I found Citalopram helpful for anxiety and mood.
I also tried several different HRTs but couldn’t find one suitable for me although i have friends who say it’s a life saver for them.
I hope you find something that helps you. Take care.

Hi NCM. Have you spoken to your GP about alternatives to setraline and more generally about Menopause? Regardless of the MRI it seems as if you need help and support

Sorry to hear you are feeling so bad. I have an idea I have heard this is very good for numerous things. I was offered it by my Neurologist but I said I cannot take that as I am already on Paroxetine. Have a read up on it.

Amitriptyline is an antidepressant medicine. It works by increasing levels of a chemical called serotonin in your brain. This can improve your mood . You may start to feel better after 1 to 2 weeks but it can take 4 to 6 weeks for amitriptyline to work fully.

Hope you find help, anxiety is a real bummer. I have lived with anxiety all my life and I know how bad it can get. Keep that chin up there is hope for you I promise.

hi what is HRT and how do you go about this?

HRT is responsible for me freezing to death each night as my wife has all the windows open.:rofl: might want to inform the other half to get the hat and gloves out and the water bottle  … tbh it may help you spk with your GP

Hormone replacement therapy. Oestrogen goes through the floor at menopause and HRT boosts your levels back up a bit and relieves symptoms like menopause-related anxiety, hot flushes, cog fog etc.

I console Mr Alison100 that I’d want the bedroom kept even colder without HRT!
