Just watching hubby pack the campervan for his 3 night break on Tuesday. Our youngest daughter and chidren often joined us for camping holidays. She asked if we were going off for easter and I told her I dont holiday in the camper anymore, as I just cant cope.......no hoist..........no shower...........disabled facilities on site dont have a hoist either, so no good. The bed isnt a profiling one either and all in all, it is just not suitable anymore. I feel sad about not being abe to go too, but cest la vie!
We looked at bespoke motorhomes, with everything I need and the prices are way beyond our means now. Hubby actually said that going on holiday with me isnt a holiday for him now…I do understad that. Poor lad works so hard keeping up with me and our poodle Lucy.
So Lucy I are being looked after by 2 of my carers. They have also kindly offered to do some deep cleaning in the house…they were worried we`d be offended by them asking…no, not at all…I see muck and I cant get at it from my wheelie!
And of course, my carers are taking me Backpool in May, to a disabled friendly hotel, for 4 nights. Kiss me quick!
i know were your coming from Poll. im an x caravaner myself and really miss getting away with the wife for the times we used to have. as you say sights are not kitted up with the things you will need.
anyway you have your blackpool break to look forwad too and im sure you will enjoy that.
I find this so sad. Hubby and me are lucky enough to be able to afford hols but they take much more planning,these days - accessibility etc. He is my sole carer so doesn’t even get a day off on holiday, but at least he doesn’t have to make the bed or cook, so there is some respite for him. Yep, hes gone and has just rung me to say he and daughter are all pitched up and are having a beer, in the blazing sunshine and heat! Hot here too, in Yorkshire. Hes in Cheshire.
Deep house cleaning underway…and weeding outside done too…carers are lovely.
I told hubby estate agents coming tomorrow............he said Fine,Ill stay here. Just send me half the money.
There are some lovely new McCarthey & Stone retirement apartments nearby and they are offering 2 free night`s stay in their guest suite, to anyone interested in buying one…mmmmmmmmmm?
My Uncle George lives in a McCarthy&Stone apartment in Penarth. lt has beautiful landscape gardens that look out to sea.
Any visitors can stay in the guest suite. And a friend of mine has one in Alcester - Nr Stratford. She has been there 2 yrs. She is on the first floor so does not have any outside space - nor a balcony. lt was fine for her at first as she moved in December - but as soon as the weather turned nice she found herself missing not being able to throw open a door and step outside. The ground rent and service charges are very expensive. But she can go and stay at any of the McCarthy Stone developments for £20 a night. She has a son who lives and works in Tenerife - so she has gone to stay with him for a while. ldeally, she would like to rent out her apartment during the winter whilst living in Tenerife. The communal rooms and corridors look like a 5* Hotel - and the whole place very warm. You would miss your Hollywood Spa bathroom Poll!!!
