Hi, I’m the same, my husband turned the hot water on when he was downstairs and
and I was upstairs having a shower so it was
just cold water coming out it was like a electric shock but cold weather really effects me as well and hot weather so just have a few weeks perfect weather in spring and autumn!
Yep,
Can totally agree.
If I step into the shower and the water on the shower tray is a bit cold I get those daft shock waves through my feet and up my legs.
My MS is particularly sensitive to both hot and cold extremes.
I’ve asked my consultant and it’s “normal” for some MS’ers to be like this.
My legs spasm with cold water. If cold water goes on my legs in the shower they jump around all over the place.
The first time this happened was before diagnosis. We were on holiday and went for a paddle and my legs gave way and we couldn’t understand why. Now it’s predictable and I know if I, say, sat on the side of a swimming pool and dangled my legs in they would both be kicking around causing a big splash!!
It doesn’t hurt at all but they’re definitely not under my control!
I think dealing badly with extremes of temperature is very common with MS. I’m fine in the cold up to a point – I had a cold shower today! – But a hot day reduces me to a suffering, strengthless heap on the sofa.
Ooh me too! When it first started happening I wasn’t bright enough to catch on that I needed to let the water heat up before stepping into the shower cubicle lol. Lucky I didn’t accidentally put out one of the shower panes!
I’m exactly the same. I’m in a wheelchair now, so my wife has to push me into the shower in my shower chair. If she’s too quick and pushes me in before the water is hot, I yelp loudly and do a seated version of the MS River Dance!
Thats me ,
It’s the extremes that I have trouble with.
Too cold and my legs are very stiff and robotic, too hot and my legs are like lead weights, just totally fatigued , no muscle strength at all.
