I’m surprised and disappointed that your GP doesn’t know what your results mean? They’re supposed to be the medical professional, so they should either know the explanation or how to find it ?!! I can quite understand that he/she is unaware of what part they play in MS - but I’d assume they could find out if they tried !! Seem to be getting a lot of infections lately so maybe it’s linked or nothing to do with MS , it’s all very confusing :frowning: Sarah x Poppet 24 Aug 2012 at 1:01PM Top Report post Like (0) Send private messagequote Thanks Guys Dom my GP said they know it’s part of the immune system but what it means in MS they don’t know . I had blood tests and they were all fine except my immunoglobulin a was high. My gp didn’t know what it meant and not seeing my consultant for a few weeks so please keep me posted if anyone gets back to you with an answer. Rizzo or gokr might know the answer of they are about

Not something I know a lot about, but this is an excellent site for finding out about lab tests (and this is the page about immunoglobulins): http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/immunoglobulins/tab/test

MS isn’t mentioned in any of the sites I looked at so it may be a red herring and your recurrent infections are to blame. It could also be a clue that it is something other than MS that is causing your symptoms, but I’m sure your neuro will be able to clear it up once he’s back from holiday.
