Returning to work!

Hi everybody! I am returning to work next week!! I am soo happy never thought i would see the day i was this excited about going back to work lol ( i have been off for 3 months). I am going back with no dx as i am waiting on the results of my LP but i can not wait any longer they said it cud b 8 weeks before i see the neuro again. i was just looking to know if anyone else has returned to work in the nhs i am getting a phased return as the doctor said it would b best. I am a bit worried about OH. Does anyone know what they will ask or do? Also i called into work before my LP as it is in the same hospital and my good friends all chatted away but others did even want to look at me never mind talk to me. These r people i normally get on really well with and work nightshifts with just the two of us. I was really upset when i left. I know people prob dont no what to say to me but i am still me!! Any advice on how yo deal with this would be great!! Thanks Charlene

Hi Charlene,

Sorry to hear you are not looking forward to returning, its hard isn’t it! I have been in a few times and the reception has been mixed but mostly warm. I did get from one colleague the classic ‘well younlook well’ stunning compassion from a fellow nurse!!! I have been under OH from the get go and TBH they have been about as useful as a chocolate fire guard! They should just establish what you limitations are and set the limits of your abilities and make recommendations for to your line managers. I have asked about the possibly of being redeployed, still waiting! Really think this ED lark is bad for my health!

Very best of luck hope it goes well.

Hi again,

Having read it back it struck me there wasn’t a lot of advice, sorry! I have unfortunately had a lot of sick leave for one thing or the other over the last 14 months. Each time I have dreaded going back, some of the people I work with are real ball breakers and you almost feel like you are going to sneared at for taking time off. Each time I have been wrong and I hope your colleagues will be just as glad to see you back. Set your limits with OH and stick to them, be firm!!! Your health is important too. Those that don’t want to know, well they were never really friends anyway, their loss!

Again good luck. Xx

Thanks jarv’smum I think the first day will be the worst as i will have to talk about everything with different departments which will prob upset me lol but it has to b done. Idid txt my friends and they r all really happy i am coming back. But its not my good friends i am worried about its everyone else. Cant stand people looking at me and feeling sorry for me. But on a happier note i am going to go shopping to get new stuff for work with my twin so i cant wait for that!! Lol
