Respite scarcity

Hello. My partner has tremendously advanced secondary progressive MS and we struggle to find places that will accommodate her for a week’s respite now and then. The two local-ish places that would don’t (one just terminal cancer, the other is for military vets and has tightened up their admission). I’ve been working my way through the CQC list, but where she’s tried is either full of Dementia sufferers (she needs her sleep and the constant noise prevents that) or they’re just a bit shonky despite glossy brochures (not brushing her teeth and similar).

I know there used to be dedicated MS places but they seem to have disappeared. If anyone has any suggestions for the Sussex area that would be great. (She really does require absolute maximum care). Thanks

Hi, I think this is a very rare resource to find. We tried our local Helen Ley Centre here in Leamington Spa but I just couldn’t leave my wife there. We left within the day. They just don’t have the one to one resource we had at home so would be left long hours alone. Not good. We accepted the fact that ‘respite’ isn’t a thing, certainly at the most advanced stages. Good luck both.
