Relapse?

Hi all  I started Avonex injections about 6 weeks ago. I did 4 weeks’ of injections but then had to stop due to horrendous depression. I am due to start Copaxone in a week or two. Yesterday morning I woke up numb between the legs. Its still the same this morning and I’m wondering if its the start of a relapse. I had one last summer which resulted in my entire lower half being numb but that time the area between my legs was the last to be affected. Any thoughts? Kaz xxxx

HI Kaz that numb felling happend to me a few years ago before i was diagnosed and it was just the left side of my lower regoins that was affected and leg but doc thought it was a trapped nerve in my back. it eased of after about 3 mounths so it could just be that or a relapse how do we know what is what. I hope you feel fine soon i am on Copaxone injections and have no trouble with injection sites just the legs are always painful and bleed a small amount Hope weather is good where you are lovely and sunny down in the south. Take care Katy

Thanks Katy xx

My January relapse started like that. I got up, went to the loo and everything was numb. Ruined sex too, but the feeling came back eventually. Slightly worried it’s happening again, feel very buzzy this morning. I’m waiting to start on Avonex, hope I can hold off the relapses til then

Thank you Wilf, I appreciate the reply.

My consultant said to contact my GP the next time I had a relapse so that he could inform him and the consultant would then arrange an MRI. I just don’t know quite how to be sure if this is a relapse or not!

I left it for about 5 days and by that time I was numb from ribs down. I don’t know if that was too long but it meant they definitely could see the relapse in full force

This is day three and it hasn’t move from that area, but it is very numb. I’ve emailed my MS nurse so I’ll see what she says. Thanks again  x
