I’m currently using a mobility scooter for my daily outings, and my wife usually helps me with setup and loading it into the car. I’ve been using the TopMate ES41 Mobility Scooter, which has been fantastic in terms of comfort and reliability. However, even though it’s foldable, I’m now looking for something even lighter and easier to lift — something that can make travel completely hassle-free.
I’d prefer a scooter with a lithium battery, at least 10 miles of range, and ideally airline-approved since we travel quite often. Portability and comfort are my top priorities — but I also want something sturdy enough to handle uneven paths and daily use.
Has anyone here tried ultra-lightweight models recently or found one that really balances power, comfort, and portability? Any recommendations would be much appreciated!
Hi Adam. I’ve been using a CareCo Minimus which weighs 17 KG but isnt the most comfortable- it’s OK but no padded seat. I too have been looking for lighter and more comfortable scooters and although I’ve yet to try one I am thinking this one from the amusingly named ‘Betty and Bertie’ looks good:
I also have a Moving Life ‘Atto’ which isn’t lightweight but splits into two parts . I like the Atto and it’s very robust. With only 3 wheels it sometimes struggles with traction on e.g grassy uphill slopes but I’ve taken it up and down rough bumpy tracks and the reason I bought it was because of it’s very good ground clearance. It also has a very good turning circle.
In addition to previous reply,I once tried a couple of theses in a store. Can’t remember why I didn’t go for any but I do remember the E-foldi light as being very ‘nippy’ speeding around the store
I started off looking for a scooter but ended up with a good quality electric chair. Much more manoeuvrable, faster, comfortable. You save the length of the handlebars and a doddle to control with a joystick. Mine folds up small and weighs only 26kg with Li+ batteries.
