My sister in law, like me, has SPMS. She has been using a Travelscoot Deluxe for many years. She is now worried about it tipping over. There are 3 big issues. The pavements where she lives are terrible, extremely uneven because the tree roots are forcing the tarmac and paving stones out of an even surface. At the moment she rides a 3 wheeler, the Travelscoot which has a high centre of gravity. She is really worried about the scooter tipping over and the consequences. As an ex Travelscoot user I fully understand her problems. I now use an Atto, very mixed feelings about it.
Does anyone have any suggestions? It must use a Lithium Ion battery, fold up to go in a car and not be too heavy. I am thinking of an efoldy or a Humfree but I would love to hear your suggestions.
Hi there @p.burke54 . I’ve been looking at scooters with a view to getting something lighter than my Care Co Minimus and moving Life Atto. MS and advancing years (72) make them an increasing challenge to lift.
I’ve been looking at Monarch Mobility Super Carbon Light but don’t know about its centre of gravity.
I’ve also started looking at Powerchairs/ electric wheelchairs and am currently quite attracted to the one in the link below. Not light but it appears to be quite stable and folds up
For me 3 wheelers are less stable, saying that I use a Supa Scoota which has 2 wheels close together at the front making it a bit more stable. I would recommend visiting a store and trying a couple so that you get a real comparison.
No mobility scooter is 100% stable unless it is very wide and heavy. That then defeats purpose of a mobility scooter to use in a town. Like so many things it is a compromise.
Remember not every make of mobility scooter is available in a shop. I have switched from a Travelscoot Escape to an Atto because the pavements etc are very uneven and dropped kerbs are scarce
