Recommend Consultant ?

Hi, I have SPMS and live in the north east of England. I would like to transfer to a new consultant / hospital, as I have lost confidence in my current Dr. Does any member have any experience of changing , and does anyone have any suggestions on a good consultant ? I am able to travel. I know there isn’t a ‘magic wand’ -( if only ! ) but my current consultant has stopped attending my 6 monthly 10 minute appointment and Instead have been seen an inexperienced registrar. I do not know who my MS nurse is and am starting to loose hope. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi, Im sorry to hear youre not getting the care you hoped for with your current neuro.

I know what thats like as ive seen 13 in as many years!

Maybe you could speak to your GP about it and see if he/she has any suggestions.

Hi I’m from the NE too…pm sent with some info. Xx

When you say you can travel - how far? I know of good neuros in London and Edinburgh but would assume these are both too far for six monthly appointments (the one in London is a SPMS specialist). I would say it’s definitely worth finding a good neuro - there are so many new drugs coming onto the market and you want a neuro who knows about them and will prescribe them before it’s too late for you. You might be able to get info about neuros that specialise in MS from the MS Society.

Hi - have a really brilliant one in Hull. Email me if you want details.
