Hello
can i just as a random question - had an MRI front lobal looking for dementia due to cognitive and memory issues thankfully
I got the all clear and diagnosed with “functional Memory Impairment” but when I Googled the diagnosis I stumbled upon MS and saw a whole list of symptoms which I have that match perfectly (the neurologist didn’t ask for other symptoms just memory stuff although I did mention my loss of bladder control due to “signal Loss” as I have been prescribed drugs for that two years ago)
question - surely my MRI would have shown up MS even if they weren’t looking for it ?
thanks in advance
alison
No, they have to be looking for it. Other tests like lumber puncture, emg are used to diagnose MS.
If you’re concerned and I can see you are hun, then either speak to your neuros secretary, or ask your GP for another referral.
So many things do mimic MS. Dr Google can make us worse!

Thank you Poll
yes i agree Google can be a devil and can make mountains into mole hills - but can be quite enlightening if taken sensibly
I just needed to ask that question about the MRI before asking to be referred back so I can explain my huge list of symptoms which have been treated on their own and are quite life changing, I never thought of them being connected (and indeed perhaps they are not connected at all)
thank you again for your reply X
