Evening all I was wandering is it me or is it quite usual to get legs that feel as tho there filled with lead yet at the same time made of jelly??? it’s a very odd feeling just like I get the feeling of have goose bumps when I don’t!! the outer underside of my left foot has felt numb (but with some feeling if that makes any sense) been like it for nearly 4wks I’m hoping it’ll go back to normal feeling soon but I’m not holding my breath on it lol Thanx for reading my post Lou
Hi Lou,
Well, MS is a hugely variable disease, and not everyone gets the same symptoms. Add to that that different people have different ways of describing them.
But having said that, descriptions on a theme of “heavy legs” or “weak legs” are hugely common, so it sounds as if what you’re describing is quite usual with MS, or with conditions that resemble MS (I’m not sure whether you’re already diagnosed).
If it’s relapsing remitting MS (the most common kind at diagnosis), it is usual for such symptoms to improve after a time, though they may not always resolve completely. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to predict how far they will improve, or the timescale. You just have to be patient, and remember that most people DO get some improvement, eventually.
Sometimes it’s so gradual, it’s not recognisable on a day-to-day basis, but if you compare to how you were when it first happened, it may be apparent that there has been some change for the better.

Hi Lou, I have PPMS and that describes how my legs feel really well. Although, I always say that I have legs like the tin man! Obviously filled with jelly too. I’m afraid mine are like that permanently though! Teresa xx
Yep, all very common in MS and other neuro conditions, like mine.
luv Pollx
hi ladies Thanx it’s reassuring to no that I’m not going mad lol I’m not yet dx Tina 5yrs ago my neuro gave a kinda "hmm well it could poss develope/probable ms dx but then he thought it was just Carpul tunnel at the time my hands were bothering me the most but I was also going thro ON at the time he dis charged me because he said thee was nothing else he could do as my MRI was inconclusive but my LP was a good positive??? Anyway it’s just that I’ve been feeling increasingly worse these past few wks with the legs, foot etc and lots more my GP has made a re-referral back to Neuro so now I’ve got about a 3 month long wait for an appointment

HI Lou - sounds like your legs are similar to mine. I discribe it as being like Bill and Ben the Flowerpot Men - hope some of you can remember them :). Legs all wobbly, but don’t belong to me - and an enormous effort to make them work. I’m not dx’d yet and currently waiting the results of an MRI. Hope you don’t have too long to wait for your neuro appointment.
Hang on in there…
