Powerchair woes

My powerchair decided to go onto go slow mode during my stay in a nursing home recently and guess what the model has now been discontinued. Being a tall lady - 5’9" - it’s not easy to find a chair that suits me Two days after returning home from respite I tested positive for covid and still have problems with taste and smell. I have been searching online for a suitable chair and even had a home demo yesterday. Looked great but far far too small for me. I’d like a chair with a tilt capacity but fear it wouldn’t work very well in my bungalow. Any suggestions you might have would be very much appreciated. I’m afraid if I stay bedbound for much longer I’ll never make the effort to go out. Stay safe all Love Essie xx

Hello Essie,

Sorry can’t suggest a suitable chair for you but, if you are happy with your current chair, would it be worth seeing if there are any companies local to yourself who may be able to repair it for you?

Good luck.

Definitely worth getting the current chair looked at, even if only to get it into a saleable condition and then sell on.

I have a Lith-Tech foldable chair which suits me very well and I’m 5’11". I believe there is another in their range which has a reclinable back. Not cheap but very well made. Made from aluminium rather than steel, they are light weight and I lift mine in & out of my car boot. They sometimes have refurbished models on sale at a substantial discount to new.

Thanks Graeme - my current chair is an Invacare discontinued Pronto and although it’s probably a fault with the joystick, Invacare are refusing to give any spare parts. I’ll certainly look into Lith-Tech and hopefully arrange a home demo as soon as possible. Thanks again for your advice. Essie
