Good morning all. Please excuse my little rant that follows. In my teens I played a lot of tennis ranging from a knock about in the road to proper grass court tennis at my local Athletic Club.
I always followed Wimbledon first on the wireless then our little black and white tv, rushing back from school to catch up.
But last night I’d had enough and after screaming at my laptop I sent an email of complaint to BBC Sports. Why do the BBC need two commentators for each match who talk over rallies and who I think are quite unnecessary.
And while on the subject of Wimbledon, call me oldfashioned but why oh why do the crowd have to clap childishly each time Hawkeye is evoked.
Right rant over - come on Broady!
Have a good day Essie X

Hi, hope you feel better for that. A rant is good!

Hi Essie
Must say that nobody has adequately replaced Dan Maskell for exquisite tennis commentary. He’d sit through a gruelling 20-shot rally and utter “Oh I say!” Meanwhile the Americans in the next commentary box would be motor-mouthing every stroke.
These days, McEnroe is mighty, for his reading of the game, tactics and player psyche.
