My continence nurse has recommended that I start using Peristeen. She wrote to my GP but didn’t put the exact details in the letter she wrote to him. A week ago I rang her office to ask her to provide more detail but it looks as if she hasn’t done this yet.
I’ve looked on the website and I know what I need apart from the size of catheter. It comes in regular or small. I know children can use the system so I’m assuming I need the regular ones.
Is this right?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sarah-
Yes, you’ll need the regular size catheters.
I was introduced to Peristeen by my MS nurse. She hooked me up with an MS bowel specialist who then saw my in clinic and then came to the house to train my wife and myself in the procedure. (I have to have assistance because I have to stand on a rotor stand to have the catheter put in and to be cleaned afterwards.)
Since then I have had regular contact with the bowel nurse, and she is on the end of the phone if I have questions. I hope your continence nurse will give you the same level of support.
I can thoroughly recommend Peristeen- it is actually clean, quick and effective, for me at any rate.

I used it for the first time this morning and I must admit I was quite nervous about it. I did end up with water all over the floor which won’t happen next time as I’ll make sure I turn the dial to the correct place!
It was a lot easier than I expected and I feel so much better than after I used qufora.
My anxieties over it have gone and I’m feeling quite happy about it!
(My continence nurse had offered to come and do the first one with me but I said I’d rather have a go myself and contact her if there was a problem)
