Hi, this has probably been a topic on the forum before but as I don’t come on here regularly I may have missed it (assuming it has been a topic at some point in the past that is…). Has anyone tried the paleo diet? The claims of it having a miraculous effect on reversing MS sound way too good to be true and of course they probably are but every so often when this disease gets the better of me I start to reach out for those straws you want to clutch at. Have you tried the paleo diet and did it have any sort of affect on your MS at all? Tracy
i havent tried it but lots written about it by dr terry wahls.
it doesnt sound as if it could do any harm so if you fancy trying it, keep us posted.
good luck

Terry wahls book is an exclemt book to read. I really want to give it a go just trying to find the energy but I’m on a chocolate binge diet at the moment lol.
Hi, Yes, I 'm following the Paleo diet, although one thing I’ve learnt is that you need to personalise it. I can’t have eggs or avocados, which seem to feature highly, but I’m OK with nuts, which you’re not supposed to have much of. Last week I had loads of energy, so this week I’ve tried re-introducing limited starchy veg, eg. sweet potatoes, and my energy levels have plummeted again. I tend to have steamed veg with every meal, eg. carrots, parsnips, swede, butternut squash, celeriac, but last week I also really increased the amount of green veg I have as well, eg. I’d have a whole head of broccoli at one meal, plus cabbage/cauliflower/kale. I can’t overdo the green leafy veg though as it irritates my bladder as it’s high in oxylate, so stuff like kale and chard I have to be careful with. Another tip I’ve learnt is to rotate what you eat so that you’re not having the same stuff every day. I read somewhere to rotate every 3-4 days. Having said that, I have a base of root veg and broccoli every day and rotate what goes on top, ie. other veg, protein. It seems to work for me. Another thing you’re not supposed to have much of is fruit, but I seem to get though plenty of apples, bananas and blueberries. A website that is very good is The Paleo Mom, plus I 've just ordered Your Personal Paleo Code by Chris Kesser which is highly recommended. Have you caught any of the Paleocon webinars? There have been some good speakers. Heather
Heather, could you let us know how you fing this book, I may order. Thanks for the paleo mom website xx
Thanks for all the info Heather. I will give it a go since it won’t do any harm and hopefully It will help me lose all the weight I have gained since becoming reliant on the wheelchair. Tracy
