Pain, types of Pain and Pregabalin

Hi, hope everyone is okay…

Am waiting for an LP to confirm diagnosis but in the meantime last Friday my Neuro cons prescribed me Pregabalin. It is 75mg twice a day. It is quite strong stuff (to me).

I feel very spaced out on it, in fact i’ve only taken it one day the two doses; the rest of the time i’ve just taken it at night. I couldn’t imagine driving on it. It really helps with the pain but it is also very sedating and i’m not at all sure how I will work on it (physical job). I’ve been given 2 months supply.

Can anybody tell me if it is a cumulative effect of pain relief or it can also be effective in one off doses rather than twice a day? Primarily this is for the awful pains in my legs and feet.

Very many thanks X

Hello, are you still taking Pregabalin? I was given 75mg at night and it helped my pain in few days. I stopped after 1 months as I started experience swelling in my legs. But not sure if it’s due to Pregabalin, maybe MS itself l, rare symptom or who knows. But after taking 1 month I stopped and have not had any nerve pain since. So the verdict is, it helped, I wasn’t feeling dizzy or spaced out on 75mg a day. Maybe lower your dose?

Hi

I’m nearly at the end of my box and have pretty much stopped using it as the pains in my legs are so much better now. I didn’t really get any swelling of any kind, though actually come to think of it my face is a bit swollen some days.

I’m still waiting for my lumbar puncture to be booked and the only symptoms I have right now is occassional pins and needles in my hand. So I seem to be a lot better.

I’ve got a very open mind about pregabalin. I think it would be incredibly easy to become reliant on it for the anti-anxiety effect it has, on top of the neuropathic pain killer. Unsure if I will go for a repeat prescription just at the moment.

Thanks for replying to me!
