Right was sent to ophthalmologist today due to temp colour blindness and blurred vision. The doc was clearly not happy bout something he saw in the bad eye and got another optho in. One was saying “those cells are definitely there and they shouldn’t be, we should start steroids the other one said " she’s under a neuro and had an MRI we should wait or results and let the neuro deal with it” when I asked what was going on the first doc who did all my tests said there are white blood cells in my eye that shouldn’t be there" but that as I was waiting for an MRI they would wait for results of that and VEPs So as you can imagine I’m now confused by these tests (see my other post weird MRI) Why would white blood cells be in my eye? Ne 1??? Much love Jojo
Had no idea so had a google! Came up with this (very fast!) video which is actually pretty cool (to a geek like me at least :-)): http://www.geeksaresexy.net/2011/12/28/how-to-see-white-blood-cells-in-your-eye-the-blue-field-entoptic-phenomenon/
From elsewhere (basically my temperamental memory), white blood cells indicate an immune response which suggests that you have some sort of infection. What, I can’t say though, sorry.
Don’t forget to tell the neuro all about it. Ideally, get a diagnosis of what’s wrong with your eye before you see him/her!

There were white blood cells in my eye with Iritis / Uveitis, I needed steroid drops to clear it. Basically any kind of inflammation in the eye can cause it. But so can many other causes, ask the Opthamologist, is my response, good luck with it. Karen, love the video
