Hi everyone, Well this morning I got the results of my blood tests and wonder if anyone could shed any light on them. My white blood cell count is high (and has been high since first admittance into hospital back in April) my neutrophils count is also high. My alt and bilirubin is still high. Also my immunoglobulin A is high. Anyone shed any light on these? Any help much appreciated
Hi Karina
high white blood cells is to do with immune response as well as the immunoglobulin A which is also to do with immunity (me thinks). So it sounds like you’re bodies fighting something… could be anything rfom anemia, infection, inflammation (like arthritis), or even a burn etc
However, I must say this does depend on how much higher than the results are. If they’re just off normal averages, its probably not significant.
Do you have another neuro review any time soon?

Hi reemz, I’ve got lumbar puncture and tests in the next few weeks but won’t see the consultant now until around October I think. That’s why I was wondering if anyone knew about it in the meantime
Did the neuro give you your blood results or was it a letter or a vist to the GP? If it wasn’t your neuro, there’s no harm in you dropping a line to his secretary to say I’ve had my blood tests results and I have XYZ in the next few weeks just wondered whether I needed to be seen any earlier on account of my blood results showing some red flags.

Are you taking any meds? My white blood cell count is always high but the gp says it’s a side effect of my lamictal. Hope it gets sorted out soon Xxx
Hey, been trying to get hold of the neuros secretary but no joy yet. I’m only on a small dose of gabapentin which I only started about a month ago - my alt and bilirubin and white blood cells and Neutrophils were all high before the gabapentin. The immunoglobulin test was only done for the first time recently. So frustrating knowing that there’s abnormalities but not knowing what they could possibly mean. Did any of you have any of those raised when you were having blood tests done?
How high is your white blood cell count ? As mine was also above abit as well Sam x
My white blood cell count is 12.2 - maximum limit on the blood screen is 11
why don’t you ask your gp to explain them to you?
it’s a good idea to keep your gp in the loop.

Hi Carole - the gp wasn’t sure what the results meant. He said that the neuro will know more once the other tests are done. The gp said that the liver results could be a form of immune hepatitis but wasn’t sure
Any luck with the neuro secretary? My iron and something else was slightly off but because it was just out of range it wasn’t considered relevant.
The waitings horrible isn’t it. I hope time goes quicklyu so you can move forward and get some answers.X
Still can’t get hold of the secretary! Have decided that as I have lumbar puncture next week I’m going to just wait and see what happens with it all
Mine was 11.9 .Just got some more of my results in and my ALT was slightly high as well neuro has put next to it that it does not necessarily signify any significant liver disease ?? my serum ace is also high .Its so confusing all these blood results .
Fun isnt it having all these blood tests !
Keep ringing Karina you must .
My hubby has just said he is going to leave a message on my neuros sec answer phone every day until someone gets back to me ! hes not in the best of moods with them lol
