nuro follow up app

Hi all I had my first nuro appointment on 4th nov and mri on 5th dec… im currently waiting on results… my nuro said he’d see me with my results within 3 months, but had no follow up appointment as yet, my question is does it normally take this long for them to send an appointment??? Or am I just being impatient… feeling really anxious as the days go on… having really bad dizzy spells at the minute… an had a bad day yesterday went shopping and got very upset just couldnt park the car… I know it sounds silly but my memory just went!!! Which is not like me!! just So just worried and worked up… Vickie x

Been waiting for my neuro follow up appointment since 15th July very frustrating, left endless messages with his secretary and nothing. Take care, hope you get seen soon but I suppose everything stops over Christmas Gray

Hello Vickie

All my appointments were all within six weeks.

I thought according to the NICE Guidlines it was supposed to be within six weeks to reduce anxiety etc. Check on their website www.nice.org.uk

Can I sugget you ring the neuro department and ask why its taking so long…maybe after checking the guidlines. Then you can mention this.

Good luck

Hi Vickie

My first neuro appointment was the end of Septemeber and I have a follow up appointment booked for the middle of January. I made a new appointment on the same day and confirmation came through within a couple of weeks.

I would chase them up straight away and demand to get a date for an appointment. You may have to wait for a further 6 weeks if they have “missed” you off the list.

I have been told in the past that it was my fault for not chasing up an appointment to see a doctor, when the receptionist had clearly forgotten to book me in. I would get on the phone to them today or on Thursday and get the ball rolling.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice Number08 Just tried ringing nuro secretary and got answer machine. . Will try again on Thursday. . Vickie x

Hi Vickie I would give them a call and chase it up. I’m last appointment was 26th November and I got my next appointment booked that day at her receptionist and she printed out my appointment letter there and then. It was a lot better than waiting on one through the post. Polly x

You have to keep on top of these things Vickie I’m afraid. These departments are not always on the ball…I’m trying to put it as nicely as I can

Thanks blossom… you put that very nicely… better than I would have put it!!

I constantly ring the neuros sec always answer machine, never get a call back Going to take it to pals in the new year, feel like I’ve been left alone Gray

I was seen in August and was supposed to have follow up In September after numerous phone calls finally have an appointment for next week.

Gray I think that maybe the best option, might just do that myself or call in to hospital which is only a mile away from me…

Hope you get some answers soon.
