Hello Deborah.

That wheelchair looks brilliant. I bought a new one in February. Yesterday I spent over three hours on my own in the shopping centre just getting used to being out again. Yu won’t regret it.

Best wishes, Steve x

Hello Deborah , ive just read your message, it looks fabulous! My power chair is booked in for servicing on Tuesday, its quite old and a bit battered now. Iv’e had it a couple of years it was second hand from ebay if i ever replace it i would probably get the same one as yours, i have the same problem with narrow doorways. I get the higher mobility rate and have a motability car i don’t think they let you have both its either a car or a wheelchair.

I hope that you have lots of fabulous adventures in your new chair.

Hi, with powered wheelchairs how many miles do they do before needing charging and are they easy to operate as I have a mobility scooter and that is great for me. Also are they good on uneven pavements as where I live the pavements are not good and my mobility scooter has big wheels so is ok.

Sorry for all the questions but I find asking on here you get honest answers.

Cheers Polly x

Hello Polly.

I think I can answer some of your questions. My electric wheelchair can do about twenty miles on one charge. It has two batteries. It is not great on uneven pavements because its two front wheels are not fixed. Think supermarket trolley; they’re both powered from the back. The six wheeled chairs have the driving wheels directly under the seat and they’re much better. The beauty of my chair is that it folds to the size of a square suitcase in one go. I have a tramper as well so I’m luck to have the best of both worlds.

Best wishes, Steve. x

Thanks Steve. Yours goes more than I thought they would. Sorry for being thick but what is a tramper ? I have a wheelchair which my O/H pushes and my mobility scooter which does 18 miles before charging and two batteries but is not an on road one.

Take Care

A tramper is a scooter capable of off road travel

It’s not the prettiest thing on the road but it’s a real rufty tufty no messing sort of monster.

Best wishes, Steve.

Hi

I have a Spectre plus which should do about 15 miles on a charge on flat ground, but if you’re going up hill, that would be reduced. We have a WAV so it does not have to be taken apart, I am not sure, but I don’t think it can come apart.

On uneven or cambered pavements I manage, but it’s not easy cos of the moveable front wheels, I agree with Steve, bit like a supermarket trolley.

l looked at the photo of the pristine Tramper - you put on your post Steve. As someone who has been ‘Trampering’ for many years - l could hardly recognise it. Time l got the pressure washer out. Layers of mud/ sheep sh!t etc has almost camouflaged mine. l shall be covering it with union jacks- for Sundays village party for the Queen’s 90th. Mine has its own trailer to put it on for towing - when l go to ploughing matches/ horse trials etc.
