No change in my annual MRI

Hi all, I finally got the results today from my MRI and there are no changes. Is that good news?? The reason I ask that is, there is no question that my symptoms are gradually getting worse and I was under the impression the disease worsens with relapses?? So I’m not quite sure what to make of it?? Any wise words will be greatly appreciated . By the way how have you all been getting on with the heat?? Xx

Perhaps it’s smouldering MS?

I was told by my MS nurse and neuro that MS can progress from old lesions. so maybe that’s what yours is doing, but best to speak your team.

Yeah, Smouldering MS, also known as NEIDA (no evident inflammatory disease activity). Either there is NO lesion development, or they are too small for today’s MRI’s to detect them. I think current resolving power is down to about 2mm.

It’s not just resolving power though. However still you stay in the scanner, the effect of breathing can blur images. For research purposes, scanning of brain tissue be more precise when the subject isn’t moving, which is why you should leave your brain to the MS Society Tissue Bank when you’ve finished with it.
