Newbie

Hi All. Came across this site as I am looking for support with my as yet undiagnosed symptoms. Im 54 yr old female, and for years I have had missing vision on occasions but without pain. I was recently admitted to hospital as for the past 2 yrs I’ve been waking on occasion with severe headache, sickness and dizziness. But the last attack was so bad that my 84yr old mum all ed an ambulance. That was a week ago and the pain in my eyes is still there, pain on moving eyes etc. I was given an MRI last week that came back clear, but the Dr’s were only looking for cancer (as I have a cancer history of 17yrs) . I have a lot of other ms related symptoms, and finally it was agreed I could see a neurologist ( I asked to see one 18 months ago buy hey NHS ). I just wondered what the waiting times were under the NHS or should I pay to go private? I’ve also booked a opticians appointment for the weekend would this show anything up? Thanks, so many questions!!!

hi SJ

the waiting times on the NHS can vary.

it took just over a year from my first visit to my gp to my diagnosis.

this was fairly fast.

you need to know what it is like near you.

the optician should be able to tell if you have something suspicious, so do tell him/her that you are awaiting neurological tests.

I saw my neurologist a week last Wednesday and got a call this morning to go and have my brain mri done. So nine days wait, brilliant! I hope you have the same luck.
