New and unsure where to start.

Hi

Sorry new to forums as well as MS. I’m a 42 year old mum of 4. Have had some symptoms off and on for years some for longer periods. never seen a gp for all as didnt realise they could all be caused by one thing.

My symptoms include, as I sit and type this have numb and pins and needles pain in my legs, trouble swallowing when i eat first thing in the morning, vision and balance issues during the day, feet pain and now pain in my little fingers. Some days i dont remember what day it is or what i should be doing. (this scares me).

I had viral meningitis about 3 years ago and lots of these symptoms are worse since. Im 42 but have had lots of these symptoms off and on for years including fatigue and bad head aches which was put down to heavy periods.

recently suffered with vertigo and was in bed for a week couldn’t eat or move. no ear pain.

My questions are

I have a GP appointment in a month and am keeping a symptoms diary too, what should i ask or say in my limited time with gp?

Can meningitis cause any of these issues? I was in hospital a week had ct scan and lumbar puncture.

I want to be taken seriously without looking like i’m a hypochondriac, i know how much doctors hate us using google. just fed up now as symptoms seem to be more frequent and more at the same times too.

Hi, welcome to the forum!

It’s gonna be difficult, i think, for us lot to be able to shed much light on what’s going on with your symptoms.

Yeh, some do sound quite MS like.

The trouble is, so many neurological problems mimic ms.

I don’t know if menengitis has a link to ms .

Best thing you can do is carry on with that diary. See the gp and try not to tell him or her, that you’ve visited Dr Google!

You’re right, they don’t like us going there!

Do ask if your menengitis has any effect on your current symptoms.

Hang in there chuck. We’ll do our best to support you.

hi mjandy

have you been told the results of your ct scan and lumbar puncture?

they will probably be sent to your gp.

try to keep a lid on your stress levels.

have lots of cuddle therapy with your kids.
